To round off his stay in the Bijlmer, the Nigerian photographer Emeka Okereke (b. 1980) will make a presentation of the work that he has made during his residency. The work includes both conceptual and documentary photography. Okereke visualizes the diversity of various societies in his photographic reportage. Above all else, he emphasizes the co-existence of individuals with the public space which surrounds them. With this as his starting point, Okereke has worked in Madrid, Paris, Lagos, Johannesburg and Maputo, among other places. He is also active as a commentator. More information about his work can be found on his own website, emekaokereke.com. A recent interview with Okereke is to be found on the website of Mister Motley,

Okereke's residency is a part of BijlmAIR, the Artist-in-Residence Programme of the Centre for Visual Arts Southeast (CBK Zuidoost), Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (SMBA) and Stichting FLAT. The presentation will be held in the artist's residence itself, Florijn 42, Amsterdam Southeast. Admission is free.
